Nesga Origins:
Christine Pollender-Calcinari and Cheryl Lent were attending a week long judges breed study seminar, hosted by the AKC, in July of
1996. One night after classes a discussion arose about the possibility of a Sporting Group Club in New England. A Club that would
specialize in activities and education of the Sporting Dog. This was the beginning of an idea that would flourish in the next two years.
The first meeting of the New England Sporting Group Association was held on June 27, 1998.
The slate of officers was proposed and passed and the Club began the task of getting AKC approval to hold Point Shows and
performance events. The Clubs territory is based in Worcester, MA and surrounding areas of New England.
The Club was formally approved to hold Point show events on February 17, 2006.
The objectives of the Club shall be:
a. To further the advancement of all pure bred dogs of the breeds designated by the American Kennel Club as
constituting the Sporting Group.
b. To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of all pure bred dogs of the breeds designated by the
American Kennel Club as constituting the Sporting Group.
To conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows, obedience trails, field trials and all other AKC licensed events available to
the breeds designated by the American Kennel Club as constituting the Sporting Group, under the Rules and
Regulations of the American Kennel Club, and to encourage sportsman-like competition at such events.
c. To promote the humane treatment and welfare of all dogs.
d. To provide education programs to assist in accomplishing the Objects of the Club.
